Hello everyone, back again with me, Aghnia Zafira on the twilight story blog. On this occasion I will show you my understanding of my learning at school about "Argumentative Text"

📖

A. Social Function
An argumentative text uses evidence and facts to prove whether or not a thesis is true, so two sides of an issues are presented in it. This text covers the most important arguments for and against.

B. Text Structure

  • Thesis : Contains writer's opinion about something or introduces topic and indicates  writer'sposition.
  • Arguments : Contains arguments to support the writer's position. The number of arguments may vary, but each argument must be supported by evidence and explanation.
  • Recommendation : Contains recommendation about the issue.

  • It is presented using analysis and analogy.
  • It is usually written as a non-fiction text and ends with a conclusion.
  • Logical connectives are words or symbols which are used  to form a complex sentence from two simple sentences by connecting them. Some logical connectives are if, then, unless.
  • Abstract nouns refer to ideas, feelings, emotions, states, actions, concepts, experiences, and qualities that we cannot see, taste, touch, smell, or hear.
  • A Technical term is a word, phrase, or acronym that professionals or experts use in their specific field to help save time when communicating with other knowledgeable professionals.
D. Here are some examples of argumentative text
Example 1
Bullying Phenomenon in Schools

Thesis:
A culture of bullying is very dangerous for the growth and development of children. Bullying can ruin their future and make them passive and apathetic towards themselves and their environment. In fact, bullying has occurred since ancient times and no one knows when the culture of bullying started.

Argumens:
The dangers that bullying can cause are enormous for children. Children who are victims of bullying who continue to receive pressure and ridicule from their friends will suffer very heavy mental pressure.

They will become afraid of socializing and interacting with other people. As a result, they begin to distance themselves from their environment. So there are children who lack self-confidence or even worse, children who become stressed.

Recomendation:
Therefore, stay away from and monitor bullying behavior in your children's environment so that their future is not destroyed and they become active and achieving children.

Example 2
Dangers of Bullying for Victims

Thesis:
Bullying is the act of intimidating and forcing a weaker individual or group to do something against their will with the intention of physical, mental or emotional harm. The culture of bullying is very dangerous for children's growth and development. Bullying is now increasingly rampant among children and teenagers.

Arguments:
Bullying itself can damage the future and make them more passive towards themselves and their environment. The dangers that bullying can cause are enormous for children. Children who are victims of bullying continue to receive pressure and ridicule from their friends. As a result, they will become afraid of socializing and interacting with other people.

So it happens that children lack self-confidence or even worse, children can become stressed because of bullying behavior. One of the biggest roles here is that of parents, parents must protect and be promoters for their children.

Recomendation:
Therefore, stay away from and monitor bullying behavior in children's environments so that their future is not destroyed and they become high-achieving children.

Example 3
Bullying Prevention

Thesis:
In an effort to prevent bullying, how many of us have ever thought about how we can prevent bullying or how individuals can overcome bullying.

Arguments:
Have you ever wondered what changes need to occur in our daily lives to prevent bullying or at least reduce it?

If we only think or act when bullying has already occurred, then we only focus on intervention and we may never see an end to this behavior.

Recomendation:
Therefore, promoting and modeling positive social behavior before negative outcomes such as bullying occur is a good way to create safer and healthier lives for everyone.
